Undergraduate Transfer Students
The transfer application for Fall 2025 opens in August 2024 and is completed through the Common Application.
First-Year and Sophomore Students
If you’re applying as a first-year or sophomore transfer student, with fewer than 60 hours of transferrable credit, you’ll apply to the College of Arts and Sciences. After enrolling at Carolina, you will need to spend at least one semester enrolled in Carolina courses being eligible to apply to the B.S in Data Science major. If you are admitted and choose to enroll here, you’ll work closely with an academic adviser to plan your coursework and prepare for the B.S in Data Science through the School of Data Science and Society.
Junior Students
If you’re applying as a junior transfer student, with more than 60 hours of transferrable credit, you can apply directly to the B.S. in Data Science major within the School of Data Science and Society. Junior transfer students should plan to complete most, if not all, of the data science prerequisites prior to your first semester at UNC with the exception of DATA 110, which you will be a requirement to complete within your first semester at UNC.
The application deadline for transfer students through the Common Application is February 15, 2025. For more information about applying as a transfer student, please visit Undergraduate Admissions.
