James Stephen (Steve) Marron is the Amos Hawley Distinguished Professor of Statistics and Operations Research and has a joint appointment in the School of Data Science and Society. He is also a professor in the Department of Biostatistics in the Gillings School of Global Public Health and an adjunct professor in the Department of Computer Science in the College of Arts & Sciences. His research lies in many areas of statistics, data science and machine learning, with a particular emphasis on gaining simultaneous insights from diverse data types, including genomics, genetics, imaging and demographics. In novel data analyses, he enjoys using deep concepts from diverse mathematical areas, including geometry and topology.
